Staff Profiles
Warren James
Warren’s nick-name when growing up was “The Farmer” due to his managerie of farm animals he kept at his family home in Cootamundra in regional NSW (chooks, ducks, sheep, the lot). Warren has since shaken the nick-name but has kept his love of animals, farming and the country. He has crammed a fare bit into his working years from owning market stalls at numerous markets from the Queen Vic Market to Camden Market in London, to setting up many businesses for which he has won numerous business awards. Quite unrelated to markets Warren has also played in bands for many years both here and overseas and released various works. Warren is always trying to introduce and encourage more live entertainment at our markets. Warren enjoys seeing the markets flourish and witnessing many new stallholder businesses expand and develop.
Abbie James
The original market manager, Abbie James started the Ballarat Lakeside Farmers Market with the help of her husband Warren James. Abbie has since taken a step back with the birth of their daughter in 2009 and is working in the office part time. Abbie loves spending time with her family and is constantly entertained by the antics of her three year old daughter. She is passionate about sustainable living, eating organic and loves to cook. Having studied at the Melbourne School of Fashion she enjoys making her own clothes and loves trying her hand at gardening with a little advice from stallholders. She regularly travels and dreams about building her own eco friendly house. Abbie finds great pleasure in being involved in such a positive industry and is excited to find out what the future holds for In Season Markets.
Gavin Cullen
A farmer back in the day, Gavin Cullen (Abbie's father) now lends his hand to helping out in managing all of the In Season markets. Starting as a part time market manager for the Ballarat Lakeside Farmers Market he is now working full time in the office and if that wasn’t enough at numerous markets on the weekend. Gavin has a passion for organic gardening, traveling, keeping fit and is regularly found competing in triathalons aroud the country. He is an avid (and sometimes fanatic) rugby union supporter and is dedicated to his family, especially his three grandchildren. He enjoys being involved in farmers markets as it keeps him in close contact with the farmers and he enjoys the office admin and making all the In Season systems work.
Frank James
An old hand at markets, Frank James is a valued market manager of numerous In Season Markets plus is busy in the office organizing the entertainment and advertising. Frank brought the Twigzells concept to Australia in the 90’s (pencils made out of twigs), which he sold at markets in Sydney and in London. Having dipped his fingers in many pies, quite literally, Frank has also owned and operated a bar and a pie bakery in Bali and worked in the music industry in Sydney, London and Milan. Now Frank enjoys watching movies, burying his head in a book, cooking and going to the gym, although he admits not as much as he would like. Frank was introduced to farmers markets through his brother Warren James and he enjoys the social aspect and friendliness of the markets he manages and witnessing the community spirit that they bring.
